Air Education and Training Command Headquarters announced projected Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps detachment commander and instructor vacancies for Summer 2010, and opened vacant 2009 instructor positions to Air Reserve Component officers. Lieutenant colonels way apply for the detachment commander positions, while first lieutenants, (with one year time in grade by Oct. 31, 2009) captains and majors can apply for instructor positions. Interested active duty officers must complete a statement of intent and receive release approval from their assignments team before applying. AFPC will notify each officer of release status by the end of July. To help fill vacant 2009 positions, Air Force leadership approved reinstatement of the AFROTC Limited Period Recall Program for Guard and Reserve officers. The AFROTC LPRP allows an ARC line officer the opportunity to apply for recall to extended active duty to fill a specific, vacant 2009 AFROTC detachment instructor position for a period of three years. At the current time, Guard and Reserve officers are ineligible to apply for Summer 2010 vacancies.
